Candace DeLapp, DDS

Executive Director

I practiced in Centennial and Highlands Ranch for 30 years before transitioning my private practice to my daughter so I could lead The Trust fulltime. As a practicing dentist, I was exposed to many of the same situations as our Trust members. The biggest value the Trust provided my practice was on-call access to a licensed Colorado dentist whenever I had a question or a patient event – and now, I’m fortunate to be here to do that for you.

David Geck, DDS

Associate Executive Director

Colorado native. Private practice for 25+ years. Clinical instructor CU SODM for 25+ years.

The Trust is Colorado Dentistry to the core. It is a privilege to work alongside Dr. Candace DeLapp, our Executive Director. She has tremendous experience in all matters related to the challenges our dentists face daily. Her knowledge of Colorado laws, statues and regulations, combined with the relationships she has forged with our Trust Attorneys, are invaluable to the Trust and provide the peace of mind our members enjoy. At the Trust we are for Dentists, by Dentists. I am honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with and serve our member dentists across the State of Colorado.

Kami Marr, DDS

Vice President, Trustee

I am a private practice general dentist at Marr Family Dentistry, P.C. in Greeley, Colorado. I attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, graduating in 2003 and completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Following school and residency, I worked for Health Partners Dental group, a large HMO in Minnesota, prior to returning to Colorado in 2007 to begin private practice with my dentist-husband and partner at the same practice I interned with in high school. I have served on the Dental Trust Liability Board since 2017.

Participating on this board has been one of the most rewarding and enjoying aspects of my dental career. The Trust’s motto of ‘It’s Personal’ is true in so many ways.” Currently, I serve on the Executive Committee of the Trust Board, and I look forward to my continued service to this amazing organization.

Eric D’Hondt, DDS

Treasurer

Dr. D’Hondt is a general dentist and partner at Greenwood Dental Associates in Greenwood Village. He attended the University of Michigan Dental School and completed a 1-year GPR residency at the University of Colorado. In addition to private practice, he is also an adjunct faculty member in the department of restorative dentist at The University of Michigan.

As a 25-year member of The Trust and a member of its board, I have experienced first-hand what an incredible resource this organization is for its members. Having malpractice representation that is based in our state, allows The Trust to be aware of the issues and challenges we are faced with here on a day-to-day basis. Being able to pick up the phone and have questions answered by a dentist in Colorado, who understands our practice act, is invaluable.

Being a member of the board has made me realize the importance of good documentation, communication, and clinical technique are the keys to avoiding malpractice claims. The Trust’s staff and attorneys will do everything in their power to help protect the dentists they represent. I feel free fortunate to be a member of The Trust, and am confident that they are strong advocates for the dentists they represent.

Kimberly Suter, DDS

Graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in 1991. Associated with Dr. Robert Patten in my hometown of Sterling, CO for three years, then opened a solo, private practice from scratch in 1994. Raised two boys, born in 1993 and 1995, both are successful and living back in their hometown of Sterling also. My practice focuses on hometown, golden rule living where health and happiness are our main concern.

When I was asked to sit on the board for the TRUST, I was absolutely honored. My experience with then for the previous 30 years has been nothing but fantastic — very supportive, caring and helpful. Sitting on the board has been one of the best experiences of my career. Coming together with likeminded people, sharing the same visions and goals and wanting wholeheartedly to keep dentistry as one of the best professions, are things that I have enjoyed the most. I have grown both professionally and personally since I was appointed and look forward to the years ahead.

The Trust Board is the BEST board/organization I have EVER been a part of. Our focus is on how we can help our member dentists continue to be successful in their practices. There is ZERO politics involved in our decision making, our focus is only on how we can help the dentist in Colorado. By sitting on this board, I have grown as a professional in my communication with patients, record keeping, case selection, importance of working with great specialists, and open communication amongst the dental field. I would recommend sitting on this board to any peer and feel that the TRUST has become the name and face of advocating for the best interest for dentistry in the state of Colorado.

I was not sure what to expect when I was asked to join the Trust Board or if I would like it. As it turns out, the people on the board and the organization (Berkley Risk) have probably been the best group I have ever been associated with in my dental career. I am always proud to say I am on the Trust Board because over the years everyone has proven to have the best interests of the member dentists first in their thinking and actions. Even though the meetings are very regular, I look forward to the time and fellowship with everyone on the board. It has evolved over the years to be an efficient model of malpractice management to truly offer a personal service as every case is looked at by multiple dentist colleagues. And seeing the various cases has taught me more than I ever imagined about being a better dentist, as well as for my patients and staff. It is all very humbling.

A professional liability trust which is run for dentists and by dentists is truly a unique concept that does not exist in most parts of the country. Greg Ragulsky, DDS

Trustee, Southeastern

Private practice general dentist in Pueblo, CO. Graduated from the University of Oklahoma – College of Dentistry in 2014.

Joining the Trust board has made me a better dentist and ensured our entire practice has clear communication and documentation between doctors, patients, team members, and colleagues. Knowing what situations can and do arise during the course of dental treatment and how to handle them with the reassurance that you are being fully supported by a group of experienced dentists and board members with various backgrounds and trainings gives you peace of mind.

I appreciate that board members have in depth discussions about various issues that affect the way we all practice dentistry. Decisions are not made randomly and are looked at from all angles which serve the best interests of Trust members in the state of Colorado. The Trust Board is not only looking out for member dentists today, but also planning for the long term success of dentists and our profession as a whole!

Sheryl Bridges, JD

In my legal practice, I represent healthcare professionals, including dentists, in front of licensing boards, in litigation, and with regard to many other legal questions that arise for professionals practicing in the healthcare field. It is a privilege to serve as general counsel for the Trust Board. My experience helps me guide this thoughtful group of dentists through legal questions as they carry out their duties. Without question, the Trust Board truly cares about the Trust, its participants, and the practice of dentistry in Colorado. It is a Board that seeks legal guidance when needed and makes decisions with Trust participants’ needs in mind. And impressively, the Board stays on top of the ever-changing practice of dentistry, including legislative changes that may impact participants and their practices. If I were a dentist, I would feel confident in this Board to put my needs first, and as a lawyer, I am impressed with the hard work this Board puts in on the easy and complex issues alike.
