- Patient Evaluation, Diagnosis and Treatment Objectives
Patient evaluation is a process of synthesizing all relative pre-treatment information (reasonably available to the clinician at the time) into the diagnosis (single or multiple).
Diagnosis is based upon determination of the dental behavioral and other pertinent existing conditions. From the diagnosis and consideration of relevant records (see A.), the appropriate treatment plan objectives are developed. It is critically important to evaluate the difficulty of the case versus the ability of the dentist. Referring the case out to another practitioner is good dentistry if your abilities have not been developed well enough.
